I work pretty much 9 til 5, 5 days a week – but sometimes when I have a long experiment running I’ll work later or over the weekend.

When I go to a synchrotron to collect data, I have worked for 24 or even 48 hours without a break.

48 hours was only once, and it was utterly exhausting.

Some days yes some days no. In gneral its 9 to 5 but I’ve been in from 9 to 8 a lot recently. We also get 24 hour shifts at the synchrotron sometimes.

When I was a graduate student and for a couple of years afterwards I worked very long hours – lots of evenings and most weekends. These days I mostly work 9 to 5 unless there is a synchrotron experiment to do.

Not always, I try to be in around 9am and leave at 19h at the latest. I usually work at least one weekend a month. Probably next one to catch up on work I am not doing cause I preferred to answer your questions 🙂

Yesterday I worked 09.00 am to 00.30 am. I probably do that about once a week. Usually It’s 9 am to 7 or 8 pm.

I try to keep weekends free but sometimes that’s just not possible. And I live five minutes from where I work so it’s so easy to think about setting up an experient at home then go and do it.
