• Question: what came first the chicken or the egg????

      The egg.

      Reptiles and fish lay eggs, and they evolved before birds. So the egg.

      Also, you can’t have a chicken without an egg for it to be born from 🙂

      There were egg-laying creatures millions of years before there were chickens, so it was the egg – sorry for the prosaic answer!

      Now, why did the prehistoric egg-laying reptile cross the road? 🙂

      As has been said, its the egg.

      If you imagine the evolutionary line of chickens, the first chickens laid eggs and the birds that hatched from that would be slightly closer to the modern chicken. This continued on until a chicken laid an egg from which hatched what we now know as a chicken. So the Egg.
