• Question: Why is it that when I make a weld bead with a DC machine, the weld itself is not magnetized?

I’m just going to be honest and say I have no idea what a DC machine is.

Ditto, I’m afraid – I don’t do any welding in my work.

Not an expert either so please take this as a guess only…

I would say the weld can indeed be magnitized using DC, and it can even become a problem because it affects the arc . I reckon the high temperatures during welding can also play an important role, because it can help making electron spin orientations more random and this can reduce the ability of the material to be magnetised.

      Maybe?
