A completely normal patch of sea, near Bermuda.

If you look at statistics, that area of sea is no more dangerous than any other – it just has better stories!

      This is the bermuda triangle

It is supposedly an are of the sea where dozens of planes and ships have vanished but when the cases were investigated more closely it was found that most of these ships and planes were never actually in the area to begin with, some were actually found and only a few had no explination.

      Good question!

The so-called Devil’s triangle has its corners in Bermuda, Florida and Puerto Rico, it’s basically an area out in the sea with a reputation for making boats and planes disappear, or people reporting their compasses go crazy in the area.

In the end it apparently all boils down to misunderstandings and exaggerations. The area can have severe weather, and it has a Gulf Stream current that can cause some interesting effects. It is also possible that methane bubbles being suddenly released in the water under a ship can reduce the water density so much that it sinks suddenly. But there are other places in the world where all this can happen. Nothing special about the Bermuda triangle and it is apparently not even among the 10 most dangerous bits of Ocean for ships!
