  I use crystals of proteins mostly, but also DNA sometimes. They are nearly 1mm in side, which is big for a biological molecule. I sometimes add drugs to the crystals, and these can be toxic, but I mostly work with non-toxic crystals that are stable at room temperature for weeks.
