A very boring answer, but it is normally to check my email since that’s where I will hear about any urgent jobs for the morning. After that, it could be anything from preparing chemicals to fixing robots depending on the day.

Check the intranet for any interesting seminars that day, check my emails and then check my to do list.

Very often a cup of coffee will be needed while I do this!

The start of the day is normally pretty boring, checking e-mail and drinking coffee. Normally follwed by growing bacteria, making solutions, purifying protein or firing X-rays at stuff depending on the day.

I put the kettle on. Then I check my e-mails.

Sometimes, I leave experiments running overnight, and I’ll go and check that I haven’t blown the lab up in the night or anything like that 😆

Like Dave, I often need to go check nothing went pear shaped with the experiments I left running during the night (computers are great but they lack common sense so we cannot leave them in charge for too long!).
Then I check my emails and my agenda 🙂
