      I didn’t!

It just happens to be a really useful tool to help me do my research.

I really enjoyed my Protein structure lectures at University, and learnt about crystallography from that.

I started reading about it and quickly realised what a really powerful technique it is for understanding what happens at a molecular level in the world around us.

I did a masters degree in Structural Biology and took it from there!

Bu chance, I did an Erasmus training that I chose by location not by project. As it turns out I loved the research and found the technique fascinating, so later when I found an opportunity to keep working with it, I grabbed it.

I just applied for an interesting sounding project in my third year of university and really enjoyed my time working in the lab. Having that prior experience also made it easier when applying for PhDs in crystallography.
