• Question: why do we need trees to survive, why do we need oxygen?

      Hi Kirsty,

      Trees create a high energy molecule called ATP through a process called photosynthesis. Just like we do with respiration. The major difference is that instead of consuming oxygen to make this like we do plants break apart water molecules and produce oxygen as a byproduct. So without plants we would need to find a new way to produce oxygen so we can breath.
