I cannot help it, it is probably my portuguese genes? I am an explorer at heart, and when I am looking at the atoms that make up a new molecule I know I am the very first person to see them.
Plus it takes considerable effort to come up with an image of them in a certain molecule, a picture of these elusive things that are the building blocks of everything we know. I feel blessed to have the privilege of looking at atoms in molecules, it gives me a daily reassuring feeling about the power of Science and hope in it making a better future for us.
